Here is what happens from your first enquiry to a working solar and battery system in Scotland. Knowing the steps helps you plan, and it shows what a properly managed installation should include, from survey and design to network paperwork and MCS certification.

1. Enquiry and survey

You tell us about your home and electricity use, and we arrange a no-obligation survey. The surveyor checks your roof, shading, fuse board and the best location for an inverter and battery.

2. Design and quote

We design a system for your roof and usage and send a written quote that shows the full price, the equipment and the expected generation. If a G99 application is needed, we submit it to SP Energy Networks or SSEN before installation.

3. Installation

Scaffolding goes up first, then panels are fitted, cables run to the inverter, and the battery is installed. Most homes take one to three days on site, depending on size and roof type.

We install through MCS-certified partners.

4. Commissioning and handover

The system is tested and commissioned, you are shown how to use the app, and your MCS certificate is issued. Smaller systems are notified to the network operator under G98 after installation. You can then apply for a Smart Export Guarantee tariff.

How our survey works

Every project starts with a no-obligation survey. We look at your roof orientation, pitch, shading and condition, your fuse board and meter position, where a battery or inverter could go, and how your household uses electricity through the day and across the Scottish seasons. You then receive a written quote showing the equipment, the expected generation for your roof and the full price, so you can compare it fairly. We handle the network connection paperwork with your local distribution network operator, which is SP Energy Networks in central and southern Scotland and SSEN in the north, Highlands and islands. We install through MCS-certified partners. Solar panels and batteries are 0% VAT until March 2027. Finance available, subject to status.
