New homes in Scotland are being designed for lower emissions and higher energy performance. This guide explains how solar panels, batteries and heat pumps can be integrated into new-build developments, and what housebuilders should plan for early.
Designing in from the start
Including solar and heat pumps at design stage is simpler than retrofitting. Roof orientation, cable routes, inverter locations and cylinder space can all be planned into house types.

Building standards
Scottish building standards set energy and emissions requirements for new homes. Solar PV and heat pumps are common ways to meet them. Requirements change over time, so we work from the current standards for your warrant application.
Network capacity
Large developments need early discussion with SP Energy Networks or SSEN, as the combined generation and heat pump load can affect the connection. We help prepare the information needed for applications.
Installations are carried out by MCS-certified partners.
Non-domestic buildings in Scotland
Farms, offices, schools, warehouses, social housing blocks and new-build developments each raise different design questions. Large roofs often support systems that need G99 approval from SP Energy Networks or SSEN before connection, and export may be limited where the local network is constrained, which is more common in parts of the Highlands, Argyll and the islands.
Good projects start with half-hourly consumption data, a structural check of the roof and a clear understanding of when the building uses power. A daytime-heavy business usually uses most of its solar directly, while buildings that are empty in the day may benefit from storage. Your proposal sets out the design, the connection route and the full price.
How our survey works
Every project starts with a no-obligation survey. We look at your roof orientation, pitch, shading and condition, your fuse board and meter position, where a battery or inverter could go, and how your household uses electricity through the day and across the Scottish seasons. You then receive a written quote showing the equipment, the expected generation for your roof and the full price, so you can compare it fairly. We handle the network connection paperwork with your local distribution network operator, which is SP Energy Networks in central and southern Scotland and SSEN in the north, Highlands and islands. We install through MCS-certified partners. Solar panels and batteries are 0% VAT until March 2027. Finance available, subject to status.
Frequently asked questions
Do you install solar panels and batteries across Scotland?
Yes. We arrange solar panel and home battery installations across Scotland through MCS-certified partners, covering houses, flats with suitable roofs and businesses. A surveyor checks your roof, electrics and usage before we give you a written quote.
Can I add a battery to my existing solar panels?
Usually, yes. Most existing solar systems can take a home battery, either through a hybrid inverter or an AC-coupled battery. The survey checks your current inverter, fuse board and space so we can recommend a battery that suits your system.
Is finance available?
Finance available, subject to status. Your written quote shows the full price, and we can talk you through monthly payment options if you would like to spread the cost.
How do I get a quote?
Call 0141 230 0198 or fill in the quote form. We arrange a survey of your home, then send a written, no-obligation quote showing the equipment, expected generation and full price.
Can roof-integrated panels be used?
Yes. In-roof systems give a neater finish and are common on new builds.
Do buyers want batteries?
Many buyers value them, and designing in a battery-ready inverter keeps the option open.
Can you work to our build programme?
Yes. We plan installation around your build stages.
